Parish Pastoral Council The Sacred Heart Parish Pastoral Council is an effective structure for promoting and supporting parish life, worship and service, as well as helping to accomplish the mission of the parish. It is the principal form of collaborative leadership on the parish level. This collaborative body enables clergy and laity to cooperate effectively in bringing about the spiritual renewal of the parish, through visioning and planning, and reaching decisions through the prayerful process of discernment. The Council works together to identify needs, formulate policies, and identify the gifts and talents of the parish community. The five Commissions (Liturgy & Spirituality, Parish Life, Religious Education, Peace & Social Justice, and Stewardship) implement parish goals set by the Council and send proposals for major undertakings to the Council. Members of the Council, including 12 lay members, are selected through a discernment process for a three-year term. Any registered, fully initiated member of Sacred Heart Parish is eligible for membership. The Council meets monthly in the evening. Finance Committee The Parish Finance Committee assists in reviewing the status of all parish financial reports and budgets. The committee meets quarterly and as necessary as part of the approval process for projects to be submitted to the Bishop. |
